Vacuum Trucks or Vacuum Trailers?
This is an important question with no “wrong” answer. The choice between vacuum trucks and vacuum trailers comes down to your unique situation and use case. There are clear advantages to both. At Lone Star, assembly is driven from the operator seat out. Our engineering and methodology equip you to avoid public enemy #1: downtime. We build our vacuum trucks and vacuum trailers to be as self-serviceable as possible, primarily using parts you can buy off the shelf, not from us. Why? Because we understand that for your vacuum system to have value, you need to get as much service out of it as possible—and that once you’ve experienced the difference in our systems for yourself, you’ll never buy another brand’s system again.
Lone Star’s trucks and trailers are men amongst boys.

In short, vacuum trucks are best suited for big jobs. Vacuum trucks come with a higher price tag—and typically longer lead time on buildout—but the horsepower supported by the engine and power takeoff system cannot be beat.
Advantages
- More horsepower
- Higher airflow
- Quicker job execution
- Functional even in rocky soil
Drawbacks
- Less mobile
- Some models may require a driver with CDL
- Higher up-front and operating cost
Vacuum trailers are the best options for run-of-the-mill jobs. They typically have a better ROI, and take much less time to produce. Vacuum trailers are a solid addition to your fleet when you don’t have truck-sized capital.
Advantages
- Smaller footprint
- More agile/can be easily towed
- Less expensive/lower maintenance cost
- Higher availability
- More running hours/less downtime
- Can be taken apart with minimal mechanical aptitude
Drawbacks
- Less suitable for extensive use cases
Any of our customers would tell you that Lone Star is on the cutting edge of vacuum truck and trailer technology. We are pioneering the usage of vacuum pumps, and we’d love to educate you on the subject.
Unlike our competitors who pair engines with vacuums that aren’t strong enough, skimp on the tank shell thickness, design around ideas and not reality, and whose equipment cannot pressure unload, Lone Star has a proven track record of effectiveness. We build our units to adapt to your needs—and leave room to customize them in the future. Whether you opt for a vacuum truck or a vacuum trailer, you can rest assured that Lone Star is giving you the biggest bang for your buck.
